THE BROWNIE GUIDE LAW

“A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a Good Turn every day”.

The two important words here are THINKS and DOES. All members of the Guide Family try to do one Good Turn everyday.

THE BROWNIE GUIDE SONG

We’re Brownie Guides, we’re Brownie Guides,

We’re here to lend a hand.

To love our God and serve our Queen,

And help our homes and land.

We’ve Brownie friends, we’ve Brownie friends,

In North, South, East and West.

We’re joined together in our wish.

To try to do our best.

THE BROWNIE GUIDE SALUTE

If you ever see anyone making this sign.

You will know you are looking at a Brownie Guide, or a Guide, or a Ranger Guide, or a Guider, or a Girl Guide Commissioner. This is the salute which we use to show we are all in the Guide family. The three fingers remind us that every member of the family has made a Promise, which has three parts. There is always a smile with the Salute. Sometimes there is a handshake as well – with the left hand. Brownies, of course, still use the right hand with people who are not in the guide family.

THE BROWNIE GUIDE UNIFORM

Here is our uniform which we wear at enrollments and special functions, like the Remembrance Day Ceremony, Thinking Day and the Queen’s Birthday Parade. Our ties are yellow and we wash and iron them often. The pockets on our uniform are useful, especially for our Pocket Books, a pencil and a spare hanky. We try to have brown shoes and to polish them well.

THE BROWNIE GUIDE BADGE

Below is the Promise Badge, which we wear on the cross-over part of our ties. The badge as a whole shows that you have made your Promise. This is the Brownie Guide badge which you will wear when you become a real Brownie.

THE BROWNIE GUIDE PROMISE

I promise that I will do my best:

To do my duty to God.

To serve the Queen, and

help other people, and to keep

the Brownie Guide Law.

A BROWNIE PRAYER

This prayer is to help you to keep the Promise you have made.

Dear father in Heaven, we know we are your children; we want to serve you faithfully; we want to keep our Brownie Guide Promise. Help us to listen to your voice; help us to be willing and quick to do your work; help us to be friendly and loving; and help us to thank you every day for all your gifts to us. Amen.

Here is a prayer that Brownies sing at the end of their meetings:

O Lord our God, Thy children call. Grant us thy peace, and bless us all.
